Thomas was born on September 18th, 1818 in Haltwhistle, Northumberland.1   Thomas' father was George Tallantyre and his mother was Barbara Mathers.  His paternal grandparents were William Tallantyre and Margaret Dodd. He had a brother and a sister, named William and Elizabeth.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 73 on September 23rd, 1891.1
