Thomas was born on September 6th, 1900 in Whitechapel, Middlesex.¹ Thomas' father was John Osborne and his mother was Emma Amelia Desmond. His maternal grandparents were Charles Desmond and Jane Elizabeth Newman. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, James, William, Alfred, Arthur, Helen and May. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 63 in 1963 in Whitechapel, Middlesex.¹
