Helen was born on October 1st, 1902 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex.¹ Helen's father was John Osborne and her mother was Emma Amelia Desmond. Her maternal grandparents were Charles Desmond and Jane Elizabeth Newman. She had six brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas, James, William, Alfred, Arthur and May. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 83 in 1985 in Mile End Hospital, Middlesex.¹
