John Meares

John was born in 1775 in Gedney Hill, Lincolnshire and his baptism took place there in 1775.¹ John's father was John Meares and his mother was Ann Cox. His paternal grandparents were John Meares and Rebecca Fovargue. He had a brother and two sisters, named Seth, Elizabeth and Rebecca. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had three half-brothers named Thomas, John and Alexander.
