Henry was born in 1818 in Newport, Isle of Wight and his christening took place on February 8th, 1818 in Wesleyan, Newport, Isle of Wight.1 2   Henry's father was Henry Jennings and his mother was Ann Delasalle. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Jeremiah, James, William, Eliza, Sarah and Deborah.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.
