George was born in 1862 in Hursley, Hampshire and his christening took place there on January 11th, 1863.1 2   George's father was William Haymer and his mother was Selina Mason.  His paternal grandparents were James Haymer and Lucy. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Charles, James, William, Edward, Thomas, Selina, Jane, Marianne and Mary.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 43 in June 1905 in Winchester, Hampshire.3
