John was born in 1683 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire and his christening took place there on April 9th, 1683.1 2   John's father was John Girle and his mother was Joane Grace.  His paternal grandparents were John Girle and Margaret Scrapon. He had two brothers named Thomas and Joseph.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 64 in 1747 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire.3
