Sarah was born in 1887 in Old Stratford, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire. Sarah's father was John HARRIS and her mother was Eliza WRIGHT. Her paternal grandparents were William HARRIS and Elizabeth DUFFIN; her maternal grandparents were Charles WRIGHT and Susannah BARR. She had four brothers and two sisters, named William, Willie, Charles, Walter, Liz and Poll. She was the second youngest of the seven children.
