Ann was born in 1861 in Blyth Northumberland England.  Ann's father was James Comb and her mother was Annie Green.  Her paternal grandparents were Mathew Comb and Mary Crombie; her maternal grandparents were John Green and Isabella Bell. She had two brothers and a sister, named James, John and Mary.  She was the oldest of the four children.
