Arthur's father was Rabbi Herman Halevi Schweiger and his mother was Berta Haas.  His paternal grandparents were Moritz Schweiger and Betti Be'sa Schreiber; his maternal grandparents were Sigmund (Zusman) Haas and Rosa Schwartz. He had a brother and two sisters, named Moshe Miklosh-Nikola, Iren  Rachel and Elizabeth.
