Mary was born in 1865 in Horsforth Yorkshire.1   Mary's father is Joseph Morris and her mother is Ann Mallinson.  Her paternal grandparents are George Morris and Ann Johnson. She has two brothers and three sisters, named James, George, Louisa, Charlotte and Ann Eliza.  She is the fifth oldest of the six children.
