José was born on March 23rd, 1904 in Barcelona.  José's father was Jaime Hugas Comas and his mother was Josefa Vilarasau Codina.  His paternal grandparents were Lorenzo Hugas Vallhonrat and Ana Comas Esteve; his maternal grandparents were Jaume Vilarasau Creus and Margarita Codina Mir. He had three brothers named Jaime, Enrique and Francisco.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died from a heart attack at the age of 54 on May 6th, 1958 in P.Mallorca.
