John was born in 1809.  John's father was Adam Crick and his mother was Mary Hammer.  His paternal grandparents were Philip Krick and Catharine Hain. He had five brothers and a sister, named Jacob, Peter, Henry, Daniel, David and Susannah.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 80 on October 22nd, 1889.
