Stephen was born in 1829 in Wivenhoe Essex England.¹ Stephen's father was Capt George (Trinity Piolt) Harvey and his mother was Maria Hall. His paternal grandparents were Robert Harvey and Susannah Levett. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Abraham, George, William, Mary , Maria, Susannah, Elizabeth and Caroline.
