William was born about 1859 in Old Brampton Kent. William's father was James Walker (Cowkeeper-Carman - Stableman) and his mother was Harriett Light. His paternal grandparents were John Walker (Sail Maker) and Elizabeth White; his maternal grandparents were William Light (Blacksmith) and Mary Elizabeth. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George, James, Henry, Mary and Martha. He was the youngest of the six children. He died in 1931 in Australia.
