Thomas was born on November 13th, 1839 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on December 18th, 1839 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.1   Thomas' father was John William Fisher (bap All Saint St Dunstan Fisherman died at sea ?) and his mother was Martha Quash.  His paternal grandparents were John Fisher (Shipwright of Ratcliff) and Susanna Harris; his maternal grandparents were Andrew Quash (pos born Exeter) and Elizabeth Hall. He had a brother and two sisters, named John , Martha and Emma.  He was the second youngest of the four children.

Thomas and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on November 24th, 1866 at St Mary Magdalene East Ham witnessed by Charless Bull & Sarah Moore. They had six sons and a daughter, named Thomas, Albert, William, Alfred, Ernest, Arthur and Edith.
