Sarah was born in 1834 in Green Chignal St James.1   Sarah's father was Zachariah Childs (Farmer Shoemaker) and her mother was Sarah Tyler.  Her paternal grandparents were Zachariah Childs and Mary ?. She had a brother and three sisters, named Arthur, Elizabeth, Isabel and Matilda.  She was the oldest of the five children.
