Walter was born on November 26th, 1866 in Chipstead Surrey.  Walter's father was William Bennett (Bricklayer & Publican ) and his mother was Jane Cox (b Westminister).  His paternal grandparents were Edward born Merstham Surrey Bennett (Bricklayer then Inn Keeper) and Sarah Tulett (of Crawley Sussex); his maternal grandparents were John Cox (Wheeler) and Ann. He had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Arthur, Ernest, Clara, Sarah and Jane.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 18 on May 26th, 1885.1
