My grandfather David b. 1897 became the father of William David (Derry) Gordon, James (Uncle Jim) and Elaine Gordon. In his marriage certificate David is listed as a draper, which surprised me as my father had always told me he was a housebuilder, however I do remember a circular piece of tailors chalk in the house when I was child and my mother telling me it belonged to my Grandfather who had been a tailor. Grandfather David built homes in Londonderry and later Belfast, some these homes can be seen around the Stormont area of Belfast (Ormiston Rd. and Knock areas) where they can be recognised by a white cross of bricks on their chimneys.
