Boyd Gray - 1st Kilrea Presbyterian Church Seems to be referred to as "Deaf James" in Communicants Roll book. On the other hand, Plots 25 and 26, belonging to my 3x great grandfather passed to "James Gordon (Deaf)" and I am assuming that he is the brother of my great great grandfather, John Gordon.
A James Gordon held Plot 6 in the 1826 Tithe Applotment Books, for which he paid one pond two shillings and ten pence. It may be this man but there are two Jameses in the 1831 Census, so it may equally have been another James.
One James held House 12 with 3 males and 3 females and the other held House 35 with 3 males and 4 females. I have chosen James the father of Orange Thomas to be in House 35.
A John Gordon and a James Gordon jointly held Plot 38 in Lislea in the Griffiths Valuation, comprising 19/3/0 arps, John living in Hse 38a and James in Hse 38b. This property is in the area known as Hill Head, and is just north of Plot 37 in Hill Head, where George Gordon lives.
GVRBs:
- James is scored out to Thomas (Orange) Gordon in 1882.
- Orange Thomas is scored out to David in 1917 and David is scored out to Jas in 1924. I am assuming this Jas is the same Jas who got the other half of Plot 38 circa 1919. David must be the David who is a son of Orange Thomas. Did he die youngish? And which James is Jas?
Hill Head is the name of the farm which Nellie Gordon said William Gordon inherited from his father, Willie Gordon. Judging by the valuation of the land, James held two thirds and John one third. Is John his brother or his father?
