THE LATE MR. F. BELLINGHAM. – The death of Mr. Francis Bellingham on the 2nd inst. At the advanced age of 79 years was heard in Kilrea with feelings of unmingled regret. Deceased was a member of one of the oldest and most respected families in the neighborhood. The chief mourners at the funeral on Saturday were Messrs. John and Francis Bellingham (sons), Thomas M’Kay (son-in-law), Thomas Bellingham (brother), Hugh Coulter, James Garvin (of Glascow), William M’Kay and R. J. Madden (brothers-in-law), Thomas Bellingham, John Coulter, James Coulter, and John Madden (nephews). Deceased leaves a widow and two sons to mourn his loss.
General Notes
1901 census gives him as Church of Ireland, living next door to Hugh Coulter, in Vow in the parish of Finvoy, Co Antrim. Obituary in the Northern Constitution says he was survived by only two sons - John and Francis. What happened to Thomas and William? Witnessed the marriage of Thomas Bellingham and Rachel Georgina McKay.
The Tithe Applotment Book does not show any Bellinghams in the Vow and neither does the GV. The GVRBs (as transcribed by AL) shows Francis Bellingham acquiring Plot 23, comprising 13/1/25 arps, from a Samuel Little in 1877.
