Wood family - Bathgate/Whitburn posting

forum posting
I have hit the proverbial brick-wall, and could do with some fresh ideas, and help please!!
1) My 3rd Great Grandparents were John Wood,a farmer, and Margaret Rankin. [I cannot find any information about them at all, except that they had a son
2) Peter Wood born abt. 1815, in Bathgate. [I cannot find his birth/baptism certificate]. [I also cannot find any other children].
3) Peter Wood married Janet Turner [I cannot locate their marriage certificate].
4) Peter died on 5th Nov 1887 in Whitburn, and his death certificate references his wife, father, mother, and son James.
5) Peter Wood and Janet Turner has at least 4 children - John Wood, born 22 Mar 1841; Jane Wood, born 24 Dec 1842; James Wood, born abt 1845 and died 26 Feb 1843; James Wood, born abt 1850. All children were born in Whitburn.
6) John Wood moved accross to Hurlet, Eastwood and married Agnes Thompson on 3rd Mar 1871 at St. Andrew's in Edinburgh. He was a local schoolmaster and had 7 children.
7) Jane Wood, moved to Edinburgh and on the 1871 census was a milliner, unmarried staying with the Meek family. Janet Turner's mother, Jane Whyte was subsequently married to John Meek. [I cannot locate Jane Wood after the 1871 sensus.
8) James Wood, was born abt 1850 [cannot locate his birth cetificate]. He married Margaret Roberts on 19Jan 1917, and had 8 childre. James ran the famous Wood's Yetthouse Bakery in Main Street, Whitburn, and was elected as the Provost of Whitburn. His wife was also the first female J.P. in the area.
To recap, I am looking for any further information on the following people:
John Wood, farmer [b.m.d];
Margaret Rankin [b.m.d.];
Peter Wood, shoe maker [b, m]; also other children of the above marriage
Janet Turner [b.m.]
James Wood [b.]
