Gordon's father was Campbell Wallace and his mother was Margaret Tait Robertson. His maternal grandparents were Jonathan Robertson and Helen Tait. He had a brother and three sisters, named Campbell, Helen, Mary and Gladys. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 69 on June 6th, 1982 in Vancouver.
