Annie's father was David Taylor and her mother was Mary Ann MacDonald Hodge. Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Taylor and Ann Scoffield. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Andrew, William, Robert, James, David, Euphemia and Jessie. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 72 in 1929 in Glasgow.
