Michael's father was William Story and his mother was Mary Drummond.  His maternal grandparents were William Drumond and Mary Tours. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Alexander, Thomas, William, Mary, Ann and Margaret.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 56 in 1892 in Paisley.
