Alexander was born on November 3rd, 1827 in Paisley.1 2  Alexander's father was William Story and his mother was Mary Drummond.  His maternal grandparents were William Drumond and Mary Tours. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Thomas, William, Michael, Mary, Ann and Margaret.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 38 on April 26th, 1866 in Paisley.
