Alexander's father was John Pritchard and his mother was Euphemia McKechan Rennie.  His maternal grandparents were Alexander Rennie and Janet Ross. He had four brothers and a sister, named John, David, Edward, Ross and Jessie.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, chrronic bronchitis, 2 years, chronic rheumatism of limbs, 10 years, at the age of 60 on May 3rd, 1934 in Glasgow.³
