William's father was William Donald Pollock and his mother was Janet McFadyen Dick. His paternal grandparents were James Forbes Pollock and Janet Donald. He had two sisters named Janet and Dalzella. He was the oldest of the three children. He died as a war casualty at the age of 20 on September 19th, 1944 in Netherlands.¹
