Agnes' father was George Philp and her mother was Margaret Finlayson.  Her maternal grandparents were James Finlayson and Anna Davidson. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, Robert, George, Ann and Christian.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
