Agnes' father was John McPherson and her mother was Margaret Rennie. Her maternal grandparents were David Rennie and Agnes Miller. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Donald, David, Alexander, John, Andrew, James, Margaret and Mary. She was the fourth oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 82 in 1957 in Govan.
