Alexander's father was John McLuckie and his mother was Margaret Elizabeth Henderson.  His maternal grandparents were James Henderson and Jean Aitken. He had five brothers and three sisters, named James, John, James, Thomas, Michael, Jean, Mary and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 31 on January 2nd, 1858 in Larbert.
