Jessie's father was Hugh McLatchie and her mother was Jane Finnie. Her paternal grandparents were William McLatchie and Janet Dalzell. She had a brother and a sister, named William and Isabella. She was the youngest of the three children. She had three half-brothers named William, John and Hugh.
