John Marshall 
John was born in 1848 in Shotts.1 2 John's father was Richard Marshall and his mother was Marion Taylor. His paternal grandparents were James Marshall and Elizabeth Hamilton. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named James, Ebenezer, Thomas, Richard, James, George, James, Marion and Elizabeth. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.-
