Rebecca's father was Joseph Lafferty and her mother was Margaret French.  Her paternal grandparents were John Lafferty and Mary Ann Davidson. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Joseph, Joseph, Malcolm, Lewis, Mary, Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 77 in 1949 in Kilbarchan.
