Alexander's father was Alexander Kilgore and his mother was Mary Jane Steen.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Steen and Jane Devenny. He had two brothers named James and Joseph.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, influenza, pneumonia, at the age of 65 on February 3rd, 1935 in Donegal.²
