Margaret's father was James Ketchin and her mother was Christina Margaret McDonald. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Ketchin and Anne Loudon. She had two sisters named Annie and Catherine. She was the youngest of the three children. She died at the age of 28 on January 3rd, 1933 in Edinburgh. She was buried in Ratho.¹¹
