Fannie was born in 1858 in Ayr.1 Fannie's father was William Kerr and her mother was Martha Robertson. Her maternal grandparents were George Robertson and Martha Carlton McGloughlane. She had seven brothers and seven sisters, named John, George, John, William, Alexander, George, William, Margaret, Kerr, Euphemia, Martha, Jane, Mary and Janet.-
