Margaret's father was John Kennedy and her mother was Rachel Robertson. Her maternal grandparents were John Robertson and Agnes Gourlay. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Archibald, William, Margaret and Euphemia. She was the youngest of the five children. She died due to a medical problem, Enteritis, at the age of 3 on August 22nd, 1897 in Tarbolton.¹
