Catherine's father was Thomas Wilson and her mother was Susannah Mcclatchie Kegan. Her maternal grandparents were Hugh Keggans and Agnes Robertson. She had two brothers and two sisters, named George, Thomas, Agnes and Mary. She was the second oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 79 in 1974 in Ayr.
