Lilly's father was James Henderson and her mother was Jane Warden. Her paternal grandparents were James Henderson and Isabel Walker. She had five brothers and four sisters, named James, John, Alexander, Abram, Robert, Agnes, Isabel, Elizabeth and Jean. She was the youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 79 in 1935 in Falkirk.
