Mary's father was James Gilfillan and her mother was Rachel Steen.  Her paternal grandparents were William Gilfillan and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Steen and Jane Devenny. She had a brother and two sisters, named John, Jane and Rachel.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 67 on September 30th, 1936 in Woodlands.
