James' father was Peter Bacon and his mother was Jane Henderson. His maternal grandparents were James Henderson and Isabel Walker. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Alexander, John, Peter, Isabella, Marion, Elizabeth and Jane. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 75 on April 11th, 1937 in Falkirk.
