Wilson's father was Flockhart (Peter) Aitken and his mother was Sarah (Beryl) Elizabeth Hanna Dawson. His paternal grandparents were Henry John Aitken and Eliza Stobo Rennie. He had a sister named Elizabeth. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 85 on February 21st, 2015 in Sussex. The funeral took place on March 12th, 2015.²²
