Thomas' father was James Aird and his mother was Jane McCrorie.  His paternal grandparents were James Aird and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Thomas, James, Jane, Sarah and Grace.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died before 1821.¹
