Jane was born on September 15th, 1818 in Ayr.1  Jane's father was James Aird and her mother was Jane McCrorie.  Her paternal grandparents were James Aird and <Unknown>. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, Thomas, James, Sarah and Grace.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.  She died due to a medical problem, typhus fever, 14 days, at the age of 44 on December 5th, 1862 in Ayr.2
