Ann was born in 1760.  Ann's father was Turner Thornton in Craven Yorks Snowden and her mother was Ann Cowgill. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named James, John, William, Robert, Joseph, Turner, Thomas, Mary, Joyce, Sarah and Sarah.  She is the eighth oldest of the twelve children.
