Thomas' father was Robert alias William of Ilminster Marshall and his mother was Joan Joanne Owsley Owseley.  His paternal grandparents were William Marshall and Mary Barnes (poss); his maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Edward, Nicholas, John the younger   became Mayor of Exeter, Robert, Roger, Willam, John the Elder of Chillington and Anne.
