Martha Jane was born about 1835 in Washington Co AR.  Martha Jane's father was Squire John Marshall and her mother was Elizabeth Brown.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert M Marshall Sr and Elizabeth McMillin McMullen??  LEWIS?? McMillian; her maternal grandparents were John Brown and <Unknown>. She had four brothers and two sisters, named William B, Robert Pleasant, James C, John D, Margaret A and Sarah Elizabeth.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
