Hester Lemon Layman was born on August 6th, 1804.  Hester Lemon Layman's father was William Marshall Sr and her mother was Mary C Beans Bane Banes.  Her paternal grandparents were James Marshall and Jane Lindsey; her maternal grandparents were John Beans Bane Burns Banes and Elizabeth Paxton Shaw. She had five brothers and a sister, named Jane "Creative Jane", James M, William, Phineas Paxton, John and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 56 on August 1st, 1861.
