Ann was born in May 1773 in Charlotte County, Virginia.  Ann's father was Joseph Marshall and her mother was Judith.  Her paternal grandparents were John Wilkins Marshall Sr and Hannah Baldwin. She had three brothers named John Thomas, Joseph and Thomas Baldwin.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She was fostered by Richard Davenport & partner who also fostered Thomas Baldwin.
